I keep getting an error that says "Cannot Edit Portal Data"

If you keep receiving this message when you try to upload a pole to portal, you most likely saved your pole with "embedded" images. Since all the images are stored in portal, there is no need, and it is actually not possible, to save images as embedded. They should save only the linked file location of the portal images. You will receive an error message that states "Pole number <pole number> not checked in due to PortalAccessService.SetPplxData failed."

 

To prevent this, you must  save all local backups as "external image reference" instead of "embedded." If you have already saved poles with embedded images and need to upload them, you must remove all images from the pole and have them relinked through portal. The portal team can relink removed images if you provide them with the inspection ID and customer you are working on.
